How to Measure
Your Foot

Accurate measurements are the foundation of a perfect fit. Follow these steps carefully — measure both feet and use the larger measurement.

Prepare Your Materials

You will need a sheet of A4 paper, a pen or pencil, a ruler or measuring tape, and a hard flat floor — not carpet. Wear the type of socks you plan to wear with the shoes.

Trace Your Foot

Place your foot flat on the paper. Hold the pen vertically and trace all the way around your foot, keeping the pen flush against your skin — not angled outward.

Measure the Length

Draw a straight line from the tip of your longest toe to the back of your heel. Measure this line in centimetres. This is your foot length.

Measure the Width

Measure the widest part of your foot outline — usually across the ball of the foot. Note this measurement separately as it determines your width fitting.

Measure Both Feet

Repeat for your other foot. Most people have one foot slightly larger — always order based on your larger foot measurement.

Best time to measure: Measure your feet in the afternoon or evening. Feet naturally swell slightly during the day and this gives you the most accurate result for an all-day fit.

For sandals, the insole is slightly longer than your foot length to allow natural toe overhang at the front. Order your exact size — do not size up for sandals.

Shoe Width

All Hudson Pelle shoes are made to order — if you have a wider or narrower foot than standard, simply note it in your order and our craftsmen will adjust the last accordingly.

Narrow

Slim foot profile. Suits those whose foot width measures more than 5mm below standard for their length.

F

Standard

Our default fitting. Suits most feet. If you have never had a fit issue with standard shoes, order F width.

G

Wide

For feet that measure 5–10mm wider than standard at the ball. Provides extra room across the forefoot.

H

Extra Wide

For feet 10mm or more above standard width. Common in those with bunions or high arches.

Sizing FAQs

My two feet are different sizes — which one do I order for? +
Always order based on your larger foot. Because Hudson Pelle shoes are made to order, you can also add a note at checkout requesting different sizes for each foot — our craftsmen can accommodate this at no extra charge for size differences of half a size or less.
Should I size up or down for leather shoes? +
Full-grain leather will stretch and mould to your foot over time, typically gaining 3–5mm in length and width after breaking in. For dress shoes and Oxfords, order your exact size. For boots worn with thick socks, consider going half a size up. For sandals, order your exact size — do not size up.
I have wide feet — can Hudson Pelle accommodate this? +
Absolutely. Because every pair is made to order, we can adjust the width of the last to suit your foot. Simply select your width fitting (G for Wide, H for Extra Wide) when customising your order, or leave a note in your order comments with your width measurement.
What if my order does not fit when it arrives? +
We offer easy 7-day exchanges on all orders. If your shoes do not fit correctly, contact us within 7 days of receiving your order and we will remake the pair in the correct size at no extra cost. Please include photos of the fit issue to help our craftsmen adjust the last for your replacement pair.
I am between sizes — what should I do? +
If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up for closed-toe shoes and boots, and sizing down for sandals and loafers. You can also contact us directly with your exact measurements and we will advise the best fit for the specific style you have chosen.
